Museo Archeologico “Su Mulinu” (Archaeological Museum of “Su Mulinu”)

Archaeological Museum of “Su Mulinu”

The Archaeological Museum of “Su Mulinu” is home to a very interesting collection of ceramic, metal and glass finds from Prehistoric times.

Part of the 19th-century building formerly home to the Monte Granatico (a sort of charitable pawnshop that, unlike a Monte di Pietà, lent wheat to farmers instead of money), the exhibition boasts a wide range of educational devices, such as graphic and photographic panels that will lead you through a tour of the museum for a better experience of that wonderful, intriguing collection.

A section is entirely focussed on the materials unearthed during the excavation campaigns in the famous Su Mulinu nuraghe, not far from the centre of the village. Here, you can stop at length and study the impressive life-size replica of the altar of this wonderful nuraghe, the original of which has been found in the central room of the Prehistoric fortress.

Another section has been laid out as a touch tour for visually impaired visitors.
