Museo Genna Maria (Archaeological Museum of Genna Maria)

Archaeological Museum of Genna Maria

A visit to the “Genna Maria” Museum is particularly intriguing for its unexpected interaction between the architectural forms of the 19th-century building that houses the Museum and the many, peculiar Prehistoric exhibits.

The visitors’ awareness and attention are aroused all through the tour: the collection includes extremely ancient finds unearthed in the Nuragic site of the same name, which is not far from the Museum.

Many of such items are metal or stone implements and tools and, as in an overview, they help get a better understanding of the daily routines of the small rural community that settled and lived there over three thousand years ago.

Other archaeological finds, covering a time span from the Neolithic to the Byzantine age and coming from other sites scattered all over the Marmilla region, are exhibited upstairs.
