Pranu Mannu and Pranu Picciu

Pranu Mannu and Pranu Picciu

The plateau at Collinas known as Pranu Mannu, a raised part of a smaller portion called Pranu Picciu, is an area in the surroundings of Collinas that has great value and prominence in terms of wildlife, landscapes, scenery, archaeological sites and anthropological relevance.

As a matter of fact, quite a lot of nuraghes, both with a single tower and complex, stand along the edges of the plateau, so many that it looks like they belonged to one and the same settlement and defensive system. Exceptionally lovely sights can be enjoyed from the top of these nuraghes.

Today, archaeological excavations and investigations are being carried out on the site, in the attempt to map more complex buildings that can be found there, next to the many finds that are assumedly associated with some lithic industry.

The Mediterranean scrub and the holm oak and downy oak trees that grow aplenty on the volcanic basalt plateaus at Pranu Mannu and Pranu Picciu, punctuated with luscious tree-lined pastures, are perfect for a reviving nature hike where you will easily bump into the different animal species that live on the plateau, a real treasure-trove of biodiversity.
