Parco Santa Barbara (Natural reserve of St Barbara)
As well as a reviving sensory experience, a walk amidst the trails of the natural reserve of St Barbara offers the opportunity to see many species of plants that can also be perceived in their aromatic scents.
You will find such plants as thyme or rosemary or, again, many different medicinal plants such as gentian and foxglove.
Within the reserve, you will bump into the lovely little country church of St Barbara, built in 1473. Inside, a roof entirely made of wood and supported by arches resting on brackets is the result of a restoration project that led to the refurbishment of the whole building.
Actually, it had been used in 1918 as a burial place when a high number of deaths was caused by epidemics in the post-war period.
