Church of Our Lady of Itria

Visiting the Church of Our Lady of Itria in Gesturi means going back to 1620, the year of construction that also marks the beginning of a devotion that has lasted for centuries, as do the trees that surround the entire complex.

The rites that begin every Tuesday after Easter, for seven weeks, and have the culmination for the great celebrations that go from the Saturday before Pentecost, with the solemn procession that brings the statue of Our Lady from the village to the country sanctuary, and end the following Tuesday with the return of the Simulacrum to the Parish Church. Groups with traditional costumes and various religious associations also participate in the procession.

During these days, the faithful take turns in vigils, religious rites and civil celebrations.
