Piazza Martiri
Piazza Martiri is famous for the big war memorial standing in its midst, which commemorates the many people who died in the First and Second World Wars.
The author of the artistic design of the monument was Agostino Murru from Tuili, who also physically sculpted the memorial, unveiled in 1950 in the presence of the Prefect and the Bishop of Ales. The sculpture is composed of twin stone columns standing above a high basement, featuring a number of commemorative inscriptions.
In addition, the monument is fenced in by four bombs brought from Cagliari by the national veteran association, which add plenty of charm and historical value to the whole thing.
