The Oil Museum (Sa Domu ‘e s’Ollu)
The Sardinian landscape stands out for its expanses of olive trees, which produce plenty of excellent oil: the green gold of the region.
Part of a 19th-century building, then rebuilt in the 1990s, the Sa Domu ‘e s’Ollu Oil Museum is accessed via a gate that is usually to be found in wealthy Sardinian people’s homes.
The most fascinating part is inside where you can see a wonderful collection of tools used to harvest and process the olives. You will find a millstone, a press, a few ploughs and bullock carts, which are essential to easily understand the complex steps involved in the traditional production of olive oil.
