Villanovafranca - Sagra della Mandorla - Festa di Sant’Isidoro

The Almond Festival, now historicised at the same time as the Feast of Sant'Isidoro (15 May), is among the most important events for the population of Villanovafranca and is part of the events promoting the territory of the "Primavera in Marmilla" project, organised by the Sa Corona Arrubìa Tourist Consortium (www.sacoronarrubia.it).

On the occasion of the festival, which takes place every year in mid-May in the historic center of the town, local producers showcase typical local products, with the aim of enhancing the food heritage of the almond and those Sardinian sweets which have as an ingredient this fruit.

The festival is an opportunity to open and show visitors the courtyards of the ancient Campidanese houses in the historic center which host exhibitions and cultural events.

On May 15th, the patron saint of farmers, Sant'Isidoro, is also celebrated with a solemn mass and the typical procession accompanied by folk groups, knights, tractors and traditional traccas.
