Genuri
Genuri is a charming farmers’ and shepherds’ village in the Marmilla region, with a fascinating historical past. Surrounded by fields, centuries-old olive trees and vineyards, it has a population of barely 300. Its name has an ancient origin, associated with the Sardinian "Genna" (door) and "Urus" (bull).
A fascinating village that jealously guards its centuries-old traditions

This historical place is a treasure trove of Nuragic vestiges, as in Santu Marcu, near the country church, where ancient finds have been unearthed. The houses, in typical Campidanian style, exhibit charming architectural features, with raw bricks and stones.
Genuri is famous for its religious festivals in honour of St Mark, St Dominus and St Mary of Monserrato, accompanied by very lively celebrations in September. The village is run through by the quiet Saduru stream flowing down the imposing Giara di Gesturi, a basalt and limestone plateau.
The area is well known for its natural beauty, the perfect habitat for unique animals such as the mysterious wild horses known as cavallini della Giara. Do not miss a tour of the Sa Domu 'e s'ollu Museum to learn more about the local cultural heritage and the charming olive-lined trail of Su Strinctu E’Cresia.
The country church of St Dominus adds a final touch to this charming picture. Genuri is a hidden gem, brimming with history and beauty.
