The Festa del Borgo represents an identity event that involves the entire community of the City of Sanluri, attracting considerable tourist flows, and represents a fundamental opportunity for the valorisation and tourist promotion of local traditions, history, culture and Civraxu Bread, excellent product of San Lurese gastronomy and a source of prestige for all of Sardinia.
The birth of this initiative finds its main motivations in the peculiarities of the historic centre, which is both testimony to the Sardinian judicial history and the rural architecture of Campidano. It is a city event, born in 1995 with the aim of promoting and making known to the inhabitants and numerous visitors the products of artistic craftsmanship, culture, arts, ancient crafts and traditions of Sanluri enclosed among the evocative spaces of the ancient walls.
Over the years this festival, which takes place on the fourth Sunday of September, has developed and transformed into a real event along the medieval streets of the city, with the exhibition of works by local artisans, traders and agricultural producers, attended by thousands of people from all over the Province and the regional territory.
The main protagonists of the event are the workshop masters of wood, stone, metal, ceramic and vegetal fiber who, by exhibiting their products to the public, disseminate their knowledge and creative skills.
