Collinas - Festa di Santa Maria Angiargia

The most important festival held in Collinas is that in honor of Santa Maria Angiargia, on the occasion of which on 7 September the simulacrum of Maria Bambina is moved from the parish church to the Sacred Forest in the countryside and then returned, accompanied by a heartfelt procession of faithful, groups in traditional dress, various brotherhoods, equestrian groups and civil and religious authorities on 9 September.

Upon his arrival on the evening of September 9th, a fireworks display exalted the public until the well-attended final function. On September 8th, families gather at the Sacred Woods for traditional lunches followed by Sardinian dances in the space adjacent to the small Country Church.

During the three nights, musical shows and Sardinian dances are organised until dawn. The feast of Santa Maria is an attraction for many people throughout the territory of Southern Sardinia also because of the colorful tissue paper decorations which for over a kilometer pepper the path of the simulacrum with colours, a unique manifestation of faith, participation and dedication to conservation of tradition.
